Faculty Statement

The English faculty at Bonnyrigg High School is comprised of professional and motivated staff members. All members of the English faculty aim for students to reach their highest potential during their time at school, and we are able to differentiate courses in order to suit all student learning needs. The classrooms incorporate a quality learning environment whilst promoting high levels of intellectual quality and engagement at all times. The English faculty pride themselves on the success of all the students at Bonnyrigg High School whilst preparing them with the knowledge they need to continue to achieve success beyond secondary school.

The English faculty has a high focus on quality teaching. Our staff have expertise in a range of areas, and focus on the literacy and numeracy needs of all students. Many staff members are trained in HSC, SC and NAPLAN marking which informs our teaching pedagogies to maximise results and student outcomes. Similarly, all staff members take up differentiated professional development opportunities including GERRICH training, Prioritising Grammar, Accelerated Literacy and Teaching English Language Learners in order to facilitate students reaching outcomes in a positive and engaging environment. 

Resources available to students

The English faculty have a range of resources available to assist student learning and to promote student engagement. We have a book room with texts that align with the new HSC and accommodate for gifted and talented as well as reluctant readers, which are frequently updated for all classes. All classrooms will soon be interactive, being fitted with interactive data projectors which will further promote a quality learning environment. We also have an extensive range of ICT based resources which offer many literacy based learning opportunities for the students, including; moodle, blogED and brainpop.
